Join us for an informed discussion from human rights experts as they present first-hand experience on growing human rights problems and what is being done to create opportunities for success and solutions.
v Alice Andrews works on the American Friends Service Committee’s (AFSC) international programs. Alice will present examples of AFSC’s work in areas of violent conflict and discuss how AFSC contributes to achieving human rights.
v Swathi Balasubramanian is a Program Coordinator at International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), working on youth and corruption programs in the Middle East and technology and exchange programs in Central Asia. Swathi will speak about migration, and the advantages and challenges that arise from an increasingly connected world.
v Katie Sheketoff is a Program Officer at IREX, working on library programs in Eastern Europeand with experience in Africa, conflict, women’s rights, and human slavery. Katie will speak about Africa and conflict, and how we can create opportunities for peace.
v Clare Ye Sheng is a Program Officer at IREX, working on student journalism programs inChina, and with experience working with HIV/AIDS and other health programs in Southwest China andSoutheast Asia. Clare will speak about conflict, refugees, and the problems on the Burmese-Thai border.
