One of the major issues facing congress today is the bill sponsored by a bipartisan group of Senators John Kerry, Lindsey Graham, and Joseph Lieberman.  “The bill is far from perfecrt.  It is a shame the fossil fuel industries still have such a stranglehold on Congress,”  said Thomas Friedman in last Sunday’s New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/25/opinion/25friedman.html?scp=1&sq=A%20tea%20party%20with%20a%20difference&st=cse
 
Yesterday, forty-one Senate Republicans voted against a financial reform bill.  President Obama has strongly supported regulation of the financial industry as does most of the population (polls say anywhere from 61% to 70%).  The SEC has filed charges against Goldman Sachs for fraud.  And still the bankers raked in billions in salaries and benefits.  Frank Rich expresses his frustration.  http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/26/rich-fight-on-goldman-sachs/?scp=2&sq=fight%20on%20goldman%20sachs&st=cse
