Daily Musing February 20, 2010

Submitted by Marsha Levell on Mon, 03/29/2010 - 12:19pm
  • General Discussion - Public

This is an important week for health care as there is a strong effort to bring back the public option.  Please read on.  Also, note that the last email I sent had the wrong date for the meet the candidates night, so change your calendars.

Thanks.

Meg

1.  Health Care isn't Dead, yet...
Senator Michael Bennet has written a letter calling for a PUBLIC OPTION.  So far many Senators have signed.  We need Specter and Casey to sign.  Please call their offices to ask them to sign.  Also, call Harry Reid to tell him to put this before the senate for vote which needs only 51 votes to pass.  PLEASE CALL.

Senator Specter:  202-224-4254
Senator Casey:  202-224-6234
Senator Reid:  202-224-3542

Tell them you are a voter and you want the public option and they need to sign the Bennet letter.

3.  February 24
We will NOT be having our regular meeting.

4.  February 25, 7:30 PM (This is the correct date)
In place of our meeting, we will be joining others in our district to meet the candidates.  The event is being held at the Church of Our Savior on Old York Road and Holmestead in Jenkintown.  There is a parking lot on Holmestead Avenue.

5.  February 28 2 - 4 PM
Diane Morgan is Controller in Montgomery County and is running for re-election.  She is working hard to bring accountability and transparency to Norristown, and to make sure government works for all of us. Join Representative Allyson Schwartz at a fundraiser at 403 Vernon Road in Jenkintown (click for map and directions).

6.  March 4, 7:30 PM
There will be a showing of a movie about Nicholas Kristof and his most recent book, Half the Sky.  It is a one time event at the Regal in Warrington.

7.  March 24, 7 PM
Understanding local politics because change comes from bottom up.  Who is running  in the primary?  What are the elected positions job description? How to be involved in local issues. Discuss the BTCB officers and ask people to put forth their names to become officers.  We will have our regularly scheduled meeting at the Elkins Estate.
