As with most organizations we are always looking for members to become engaged and active.  Elections will be held soon, please review the roles and if you are interested in serving, let us know.

 

President, Steering Committee - The role is to guide the organization in accordance with the mission statement. Coordinate the activities of the committee chairs, communicate issues relevant to our mission to the membership. Serve as a liaison to other progressive political groups to form alliances and advocate for issues consistent with our mission.  Lead meetings, oversee planning meeting, board meetings.

 
 
Community Chair - The role is to work with other volunteers to conceptualize, plan, and implement outreach activities.  Oversee the Time Bank, social activities, program general meetings, coordinate volunteer participation in BTCB activities and with other related organization.  

Political Chair - The role is to keep the group informed about legislation on the national, state and local level.  Work with other volunteers to keep track of issues which are being addressed in forums, pending legislation at the county, state and local level and then present the finding to the group at meetings, on the website and email.

Education Chair - The role is to keep the group informed about education related issues pending on the national, state and local level.  Work with other volunteers to keep track of issues which are being addressed in forums, pending legislation at the county, state and local level and then present the finding to the group at meetings, on the website and email.

Treasurer - To keep track of the money, inform the group monthly of the outlays and income, reconcile funds.

International Human Rights Chair - The role is to keep the group informed about international issues and rights violations which occur throughout the goal. Work with other volunteers to keep track of issues which are being addressed by other groups, in the media and then present the finding to the group at meetings, on the website and email.

Recording Secretary/ Webmaster - Records the steering committee and general business meeting activities.  Disseminates notes to the membership, post notes on the webpage.  Manage forums, content, announcements and permission to post and modify the website.

Public Affairs - Publicizes events, group activities and positions statements in the media.  Makes use of PSA (public service announcement) opportunities offered by television, cable, radio and print media outlets.  Sends any editorial rebuttals or statements to the media.

Membership - Manages the google groups, keeps membership information and email lists current and updated to facilitate communication with the membership.

Environmental Chair - The role is to keep the group informed about legislation and trends pertaining to the environment on the national, state and local level.  Work with other volunteers to keep track of issues which are being addressed in forums, pending legislation at the county, state and local level and then present the finding to the group at meetings, on the website and email.

Maybe we should create a Vice President role or combine it with either Membership or Treasurer role.  If I forgot a role or you think we should create one, then sing out!
